Hello Mike, hope this note finds you and your's doing super this fine Sunday! I got a surprise last minute kitchen pass yesterday, so of course I went coyote hunting! Managed to call in three, and kill all three. I killed two of them with my .20BR and your 45 gr. bullets (my partner Tim got the other with his .243). I used the N540 load that clocked 3920 last weekend. If the email Gods have allowed it, there is a short video clip attached showing the first coyote to fall to this load. Two coyotes is a very small sample to try and make any conclusions from. But, here are my observations on these first two. This is not a fur friendly load. Both coyotes had major hide damage. But I'm here to tell ya, I've never seen ANYTHING put a coyote down faster! I mean, Holy Cow! The problem I had with the .20BR and Vmax bullets, was not enough penetration, causing poor killing power. That was NOT a problem using your bullets. Both coyotes, the bullet made a tiny entrance hole, penetrated into the main body cavity, and then expanded with incredible effect. Honestly, I've never seen anything else quite like it, and I've seen a LOT of coyotes shot with a LOT of different combinations. First coyote, the one in the video clip, broadside, I hit just in front of the shoulder towards the neck. Made just a little tiny blood spot where it went in. When I was first examining this coyote, I thought the bullet had not exited, because the coyote was not bleeding anywhere. But by the time I got him back to the truck, he had started to bleed from two very large holes, clear back just in front of his hips and just below his back. Never seen anything quite like that before! A coyote hit IN THE NECK, with two LARGE holes out either side on the other end of his body. This coyote was broadside, remember. And, no immediate bleeding from such large holes. Strange! It's like a tiny bomb entered his body and detonated with extreme ferocity. Second coyote, facing me, classic center chest shot. Again, tiny entrance hole. But a HUGE hole blown out of his side. I mean, his whole side was gone. The part that was amazing to me and my partner though, was that he had entrails COMING OUT OF HIS MOUTH. We've both seen dozens and dozens of coyotes hit with larger caliber rifles that have had those great big holes blown in them. But that was the first time either of us had ever seen entrails so violently displaced that they were literally coming out of the animals mouth. The killing power displayed on both of these coyotes was absolutely stunning, on any level, but especially so when taken in the context of a "small caliber". Now, frankly, I've never had much hope for my .20-250 turning out to be "fur friendly". If it can be, great, I'll take that. But I have other rifles specifically for fur hunting and don't mind if this one turns out not to be. I'll use it in the early and late seasons when furs aren't any good anyway. My main desire for it is extreme trajectory performance, with a minimum of recoil and site picture disturbance. My main concern, until yesterday, was reliable terminal performance (killing effect). Buddy, I'm here to tell ya, that if these two coyotes yesterday are any indication, EXTREME PERFORMANCE, including extreme terminal performance, is EXACTLY what I'm going to get! Oh, by the way, the link description you've got for my site is just fine! I may decide I want to change it up a little bit at some point, but for now, what you've done is great. Thanks as always! - Dave
