Load Data Regarding Velocity and Accuracy

The following information comes from the shops at Weaver Rifles as well as submissions from customers and associates. Please remember, all load information is for reference only! Always reduce starting loads by 2-3 grains depending on your rifle, temperature, etc. It is hoped the information here will assist some of you in developing your loads more rapidly and perhaps more accurately.

Submissions are welcome

20-250 Load Data: (Kevin Weaver)

Bullet            Powder      Charge            Velocity

40 gr Berger      H380        42                4000

40 gr Berger      IMR 4064    37                4093

50 gr Berger      H380        40                3752

50 gr Berger      Win 760     38                3752

50 gr Berger      IMR 4064    35                3856

20 BR Load Data: (Dave Affleck)

Barrel is a Douglas, 12T, 26"

Bullets were seated to engage the lands firmly ("square marks") 45 grain

Primers are 205GM's

Group sizes are average of three, five-shot groups

Velocity is average of 15 shots, at 22*F (cold!)

N540      31.7 gr.  .415 avg.   3917 fps

N550      32.7 gr.  .590 avg.   3816 fps

Big Game  33.2 gr.  .430 avg.   3737 fps

I'd expect all of these to run a bit faster at higher temperatures.  None

of them are hot loads at 22*, so I think they will "probably be okay" when

it warms up.  But I'd advise anyone to approach with caution, as always.

At 600 yards, all drop about 39” from 300 yard zero. The 22 cal bullets drop 54” from the 300 yard zero.

V = velocity in fps

All drop and drift measured in inches
